SESI-PE opens free places for New Secondary Education
In its quest to offer quality basic and professional education, SESI-PE has openings for the New High School selection process, a program that allows students to attend all three years of high school free of charge, as well as choosing whether they prefer to take a technical course or deepen their knowledge of mathematics or natural sciences. A total of 410 places are on offer, 230 of them for the technical course in Electrotechnics at SENAI-PE and 180 for the training itineraries. The vacancies are for the SESI Ibura, Paulista, Ipojuca, Caruaru, Araripina and Petrolina units.
To take part in the selection, the student must be no more than 16 years old by 31/12/2020, a dependent of an industry worker, an individual micro-entrepreneur (MEI) who falls into the industry category and is based in Pernambuco or an employee of the FIEPE System. In addition, the interested party must go to the SESI school they wish to study at, from 8am to 5pm, carrying their ID, CPF, school transcript of completion of elementary school and proof of residence. Candidates will be assessed according to the best overall average for the years completed and the list of successful candidates will be published on November 30 on the institution's websites and on the school notice boards.
An innovative teaching model, the New High School gives students the autonomy to choose between two training itineraries according to their areas of interest: Mathematics or Natural Sciences. “During classes, students will have access to basic technological education and an understanding of the meaning of science, literature and the arts, as well as learning about the historical process of transformation of society and culture. We're also going to provide free uniforms and teaching materials for everyone,” commented SESI-PE's Education Manager, Mirella Barreto.
Another positive point is that the initiative includes technical training, which will enable young people to start their professional lives earlier. The electrotechnical course is organized into seven modules that correspond to the stages of training. “At the end of the 5th module, which corresponds to the first semester of the 3rd year, SENAI will issue the Intermediate Exit Certificate for Industrial Electrician Installers to students who pass the module. After passing and completing all the stages of the course on offer, as well as high school, the young person will be entitled to a diploma as a high school technician in Electrotechnics,” explained SENAI-PE's Director of Education, Carla Abigail.
